  • … approachable, friendly, understanding, and entirely professional. Your report was produced in very good time, and was readable, thorough, and of high quality. We all enjoyed working with you…

    Family

  • If it wasn't for you then my children would both be in a very different place to the one they are in today. The way you handled the children was also very helpful…

    Parent

  • Paul Sanderson was great - explaining to us exactly what would be involved, arranging the assessment at our convenience, working well with my son and discussing the results with us afterwards…

    Parent

  • I was nervous when mum said she thought I was dyslexic because I didn't understand it and when I met Paul he explained everything, so it was okay. I don't mind being dyslexic now.

    Child

  • The school has implemented all of Paul's' suggestions. Due to this, our son is progressing educationally and socially every day which has raised his confidence in himself and he's so much happier.

Dyslexia

I have been carrying out dyslexia assessments for over 20 years.

Dyslexia is a specific learning difficulty that adversely affects the normal development of literacy skills with spelling often being particularly problematic.  Many people with dyslexia also have related problems with learning and retaining basic numeracy skills.   Similarly, while it is not invariably the case, it is quite common for people with dyslexia to experience more generalised organisational difficulties.

In the UK, it is estimated that around 10% of the population are dyslexic and it often co-occurs with other specific learning difficulties, such as attention deficit disorder, dyscalculia and dyspraxia.  Dyslexia occurs across the full ability range and all those with dyslexia will have their own unique strengths and weaknesses.  Current research suggests that dyslexia is likely to be a predominantly hereditary difficulty.

While many people with dyslexia experience problems throughout their lives, one of the key benefits of a psychological assessment is that it can highlight possible ways of reducing the impact of their problem, thus helping people achieve their goals in life.
